The work around the ice.

Hockey coaching includes a lot of preparation away from the rink. Players need to be grouped, lines adjusted and the next session shared with the coaching team. A late change can mean updating the same information in several places.

LineupDesigner is our product for that preparation: a place to organise players, build lineups and plan practices. The focus is on making the coach’s next task clear.

From a list to a usable plan.

Coaches can import player lists from Excel or CSV, then create 5v5 and 3v3 lineups or training groups. Groups that already work can be kept while the rest of the arrangement changes.

The platform also includes a drill editor and practice planning. Lineups and plans can be exported for sharing, so preparation does not have to stay on the device where it was created.

A product built around a specific job.

The broader lesson is to start with a recognisable task. A coach needs an arrangement that can be understood, changed and shared. Designing around that task gives the product a clearer purpose than collecting unrelated features.

LineupDesigner is live. Visit the product website to see the current interface, features and plans.

A practical preparation workflow.

The preparation can start with the players already on your list and finish with a plan the coaching team can understand. Each step needs to support the next one.

  • Bring in the player list from Excel or CSV.
  • Create the lineup or training groups for the session.
  • Plan the practice with the drill editor and practice-planning tools.
  • Export and share the arrangement with the coaching team.
